3. Color comparison vs. color measurement

4. Color description

5. Color Communication

6. Color varieties of diamonds

7. Color modifiers of diamonds

         An assortment of fancy colored diamonds are available to the student for color examination

 Day Two

1. Understanding body color vs. face-up color

2. Interpreting face-up color

3. Cutting for best face-up color

4. Cut grading

5. Color grading

6. Clarity grading

The fancy colored diamond student will be able to observe diamond manufacturing techniques performed by the Institute in house diamond cutters.

    Day Three

1. Natural vs. treated color diamonds

2. Pink diamonds

3. Red diamonds

4. Orange diamonds

5. Brown diamonds

6. Yellow diamonds

7. Olive diamonds

8. Argyle champagne and cognac diamonds

The finest gemological equipment is available for use by the student.

 Day Four

1. Natural vs. treated color diamonds

2. Green diamonds

3. Blue diamonds

4. Purple diamonds

5. Gray diamonds

6. Black diamonds

7. White diamonds

8. Understanding 'Certs'-GIA,HRD,& others

 Day Five

1. Lighting and viewing conditions

2. Lighting for buying and selling

3. Buying and selling-colored rough & polished

4. Understanding value & price-market vs. auction

5. Gemological testing-techniques & equipment

6. Final review

 APPLICATION FOR ENROLLMENT IN THE FANCY COLORED DIAMOND PROGRAM

Instructor: Mr. Stephen Hofer personally teaches the fancy colored diamond program. He is the author of the book, Coloured Diamonds.

Certification: A certificate of completion is issued to the student at the end of the fancy colored diamond program. All instruction is individualized and therefore the start date for this program is dependent upon a mutually agreed time between the instructor and the student.
